I was somewhat surprised earlier today when I stumbled across a story by MSNBC with a headline "Ex-President Bush's daughter supports gay Marriage."
My understanding is that once someone has been a POTUS they are always refered to as President, even when their term is done. I also find it acceptable to refer to them as the former president. Ex-President just seems direspectful to me.
I did not care for the job that Bush did, but I do hold respect for the office.
Can anyone shed light on the proper terminology?
